Billiards Section

Billiards is the Tanglin Club’s oldest sport, dating back to the completion of the first clubhouse in 1867. Today, the Club’s Billiards Room is located next to the Wet Bar and has two immaculately maintained full size snooker tables and the services of a billiard marker.

The Billiards Section comprises many Members who are passionate about the sport. The Section organises Club tournaments, Member events, friendly matches, overseas trips to reciprocal clubs, participates in the National Snooker League and represents the Club as a Full Member of Cuesports Singapore.

Club tournaments come in different games and formats with many trophies to compete for throughout the year, including:

• Snooker Championship for the Concorde Trophy;
• 4-Ball Billiards Competition for the Captain Ho Weng Toh Trophy;
• Billiards Championship for the Joe O'Conner Trophy;
• Volunteer Snooker Competition for the Graham Trophy;
• Doubles Snooker Competition for the Andrew Alexander Webster Memorial Trophy; and
• Snooker Handicap Competitions for the Ian Braslin Trophy, John C. Wilks Trophy, Peter Gilchrist Trophy and the Resolution Trophy.

The Billiards Section welcomes Members of all playing ability to join Billiards Section. Section Members are allocated a snooker handicap according to their ability. In match play, the handicap difference between players is used to determine the number of points the high handicap player should receive from the low handicapper during the playing of their match.
